Big 33 Football Classic - The Players:
High school seniors are nominated by their high school coach. A selection committee reviews the nominations and selects the top 33 players from Maryland and Pennsylvania to participate in the game. Players from both states come to Hershey Pennsylvania to play in this epic battle on June 16th for what is known as the “Super Bowl of High School Football”.
Coaches and players participate in a full weekend of activities and community outreach programs. Athletes visit children’s hospitals and spend invaluable time on and off the field with their designated Buddy. The Buddy program features special needs kids with intellectual and developmental disabilities and is designed to create an even playing field for these special kids.
Players are given the opportunity to measure their skills against premier players from their state, spend time with the Buddies and get to know their host families, creating memories and relationships that last a lifetime
There has never been a Super Bowl played without a former Big 33 player on the roster.
Over 110 former Big 33 players have played in a Super Bowl including Joe Namath, Tony Dorsett, Joe Montana, Jim Kelly, Dan Marino and Curtis Martin.
